Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist
Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist in a unique and incomparable way. He is present in a true, real and substantial way, with his Body and his Blood, with his Soul and his Divinity. In the Eucharist, therefore, there is present in a sacramental way, that is, under the Eucharistic species of bread and wine, Christ whole and entire, God and Man.
Catholics can receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist in two ways:
- In the Mass
- In a communion service for those who are unable to attend Mass.
The Mass schedule at Our Lady of Prompt Succor is:
Monday-Friday: 6:30am and 5:30pm
Saturday: 8am
Saturday Vigil for Sunday Celebration: 4pm
Sunday: 7am, 9am, 10:30am and 5:30pm
Holy Day: Vigil 5:30pm
Holy Day: 6:30am, 12:05pm, 5:30pm
If you are unable to attend Mass and need the Eucharist brought to you in the hospital, a nursing home or to you at your home, please contact the church office at 318-445-3693.
First Eucharist or First Holy Communion
- Child must have been baptized in a Catholic Church or in the Trinitarian Order
- Child must be in second grade or older
- Child must be enrolled at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School OR have been enrolled in CCD for first and second grade
- Child must participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Child must participate in the group rehearsal for the sacrament
Rite of Christian Initiation for Children older than 7, and Adults
For those over the age of 7, that have not received the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, you may enroll in the RCIA Program (Rite of Christian Initiation). The Holy Eucharist is part of the Holy Saturday Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ at Easter. Children over 7, teens and Adults attend weekly classes in preparation to receive Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. If you are a baptized Catholic Adult and have not received your First Eucharist, you will need to enroll in our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. To enroll in RCIA and receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, please contact our church office at 318-445-3693 and leave a message and you will receive a return phone call within 24 hours.
