Senior High Youth Ministry (completed 8th-12th grade)

OLPS has implemented Life Teen as our Christian Formation program for 9-12th grades. Our Sunday night program is called Life Nights. Life Teen is 100% Catholic, teaching the truth of our faith, challenging teens to live that same faith. Coupled with fulfilling their Sunday Obligation of attending Mass each Sunday and Life Nights, we offer additional retreats and youth group activities throughout the year. Life Teen is not taught by individual catechists, but led by a CORE TEAM of adults who are active in the life of the parish and work each week praying for the teens, connecting with them in a relational setting, and teaching the truth in a comfortable but content-filled program.

Relational ministry is a large part of our program where we as ministers and our core members get to know the teens on their ground (football games, band concerts, plays and so on). Teens are also invited to be a disciple by not only being at Mass but serving as Eucharistic Ministers (Seniors or completed Confirmation), Lectors, Altar Servers and Greeters during the Life Teen Mass. Youth are a major part of OLPS Catholic Church.

Life Nights take place Sunday evenings after the 5:30 mass from 6:45 – 8:30pm in the Youth Center of the Divine Providence Center behind the Church. Each Life Night will feature delicious free food, time to socialize, fun games, a chance to make new Christ-Centered friendships, and an opportunity to encounter Christ in a new way. All high school youth are welcome to attend!

Over the course of four years (9th-12th) teens will be formed in the following areas: Sacraments, Church, Person of Christ, Paschal Mystery, Vocation, Scripture, Social Justice, Morality and Theology of the Body. Teens meet from Labor Day through the end of June each year, and teens rising up from 8th grade are invited to start participating at the end of 8th grade This is an important transition time for 8th graders as they are preparing to take their place in the senior high environment. A variety of special events and camps are available to the teens, which require additional registration and additional fees, to include:

Confirmation Sacramental Prep (11th Grade)

Catholic Heart Work Camp (Summer after 8th grade-12th Grade)

Steubenville South (Summer after 8th grade-12th grade)

Lifeteen-Covecrest (Current 8th grade-12th grade)

Abbey Youth Festival (9th-12th Grade)
